Penang 'DOG' govt not 'CAT': BN accuses Pakatan of selling state land

GEORGE TOWN - The state Barisan Nasional has accused the Pakatan Rakyat state government of "progressively" selling off land owned by the state and the Penang Island Municipal Council to the private sector. Its Batu Lanchang coordinator, Lee Boon Ten, said prime land such as Bayan Mutiara and Taman Manggis were sold to private hands when they should have been retained for building affordable housing. "Losing precious land will complicate future housing plans. On its part, previous BN administrations built 35,700 low- and low-medium cost homes from 1990 to 2008. "Should BN come to power, it will build 20,000 low-cost flats and launch another rent-and-buy scheme in five years at a cost of some RM1.5 billion to overcome housing woes," Lee said. Now that freehold state land was being sold to commercial organisations, there would be consequences, Lee warned. "If it is freehold, the state cannot take back the land unless it buys back the land. Another way to make up for the lack of land is through reclamation," he said at the state BN headquarters here yesterday. Read more.... Jarumemas: Like to see the carton series of Cat Dog

Malay supremacy and why Sabah, S'wak & Penang may demand 'INDEPENDENCE'

When the Cold War ended, it witnessed the cracking up of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR) and the way and manner in which the Russian states began to gain autonomy and independence might most likely be emulated in Malaysia as well in the near future. Change is the only constant in life and in the Malaysia of 55-years old sweeping changes and transformations are expected to follow in future in line with global trends. While the current defections by Barisan Nasional members to the opposition appear to be taking place as expected and anticipated in Sabah, and should follow suit in Sarawak and the peninsular of Malaysia, this is just a sample of what could possibly happen. There is strong speculation, based on current and future political indications, that the three Malaysian states of Sabah, Sarawak and Penang may opt to go their own way similar to how Singapore pulled out of Malaysia in 1965. Secession always on their minds It must also be stated that secession has always been on the minds of the people of Sabah and Sarawak ever since day one when they joined the Federation of Malaya and Singapore on September 16, 1963 or what is known more popularly now as Malaysia Day. Under the Malaysia Agreement signed between Great Britain and the Federation of Malaya, the British enacted an Act to relinquish control over Singapore, Sarawak and North Borneo (Sabah). This was an agreement signed in London on 9 July, 1963. But the growing dissension and discord between Putrajaya and the East Malaysian states have become strained ever since the departure of Mahathir Mohammad and the end of his autocratic rule. Among key reasons for this development is that since the Mahathir days, Sabahans have become better educated and more politically savvy. Read more.... LEAVE Pakatan since PAS insists on 'hudud' - MCA tells DAP

Since Kelantan Menteri Besar Dato’ Nik Abdul Aziz has announced that the issue of hudud is not negotiable and has continued insisting on implementing this hardline criminal code, I thus challenge DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng to stop fooling around and announce the Rocket’s withdrawal from the Pakatan coalition to prove themselves to the public that they are indeed sincere in preventing hudud law. I am confused by Guan Eng’s silence over this hudud issue, and as of 30 July 2012, he still has yet to criticize PAS, proving that he is attempting to evade the issue or to sweep it under the carpet. Once, in 2001, DAP had withdrawn from the Barisan Alternatif because PAS had refused to give up their dream of forming an Islamic state, but sadly this is not the case this time and Guan Eng’s evasive reaction and refusal to do the same is indeed disappointing. Now, PAS has made it very clear that they shall implement hudud law, and Nik Aziz himself has also said that this issue was not negotiable. Thus, Guan Eng should practise what he preaches and immediately pull DAP out of Pakatan and not continue to be subservient to PAS. Guan Eng shies from facing tough question from public This is because Guan Eng’s continued statement that he does not support hudud is unconvincing, and it reflects badly on him as it shows that he does not dare to face up and he is only attempting to mislead the Chinese community and the non-Muslims. On the other hand, MCA from the very beginning has made it obviously clear that should UMNO implement hudud law, MCA will leave Barisan Nasional. We will not compromise on this issue, and we have made it clear that we will defend the interests of the Chinese community and the non-Muslims. Unlike MCA, Guan Eng and DAP are not willing to sacrifice their positions for the sake of the non-Muslim by leaving PAS. Also, the non-Muslim leaders in PKR should not continue to keep quiet, and should instead explain their stand on hudud to PAS as well, as their silence will only mean that they consent to whatever PAS is doing.
