"Later can I see and talk?" This was the heart-wrenching note written by a woman to her husband after acid was splashed on her face during a snatch theft attempt at a bus stop in Rawang early on Tuesday.
The victim, S. Rani, 46, an accounts clerk, was warded at the Burns Unit of the Selayang Hospital where her condition was listed as stable.
Rani, however, suffered severe burns on the face, neck, chest and hands. She had also swallowed some acid when the assailants splashed her with the liquid in the attack.
Her grief-stricken husband, Mathematics teacher R. Murugan, said his wife passed him the note yesterday afternoon.
"I didn't know what to say.
"She cannot speak now as the acid had caused some damage to her vocal cords. I don't know if she will be able to speak again. For now, all I can do is pray."
Murugan said doctors have covered her face with bandages so he could not say how bad her situation was.
"All I know is that this was a senseless attack. The assailants threw the acid at her because she had held on to her chain."
ooppss!!!....The culprits were really heartless and senseless. The government should immediately impose the law for selling and buying of acid freely in the market.
