'CREDIT SUBSIDY INTO BANK ACCOUNTS'

MUAR: THE Government has been urged to revise the current fuel price subsidy system to fishermen to curb abuse. Muar-Batu Pahat Fishermen's Association president Ser Boon Huat said the government should plug all loopholes to  prevent the smuggling of subsidised fuel.

 He said the association had conducted comprehensive studies  to propose a new system to the government  whereby the subsidy  is directly credited into  the bank accounts of those eligible.

 "The fishermen have to purchase the fuel at pump prices at petrol kiosks," he said at the Parit Jawa fishing village in Muar after chairing a meeting about fuel with affected fishermen, recently.
